Benld Adopt-A-Pet is asking for donations for Kevin
·
Hi! My name is Kevin! I have been at the shelter since October but you haven't heard of me because I’ve been having an unusual series of medical procedures to get healthy. When I came to Benld Adopt-A-Pet, I was very skinny and hungry. I had skin infections, infected ears packed with painful polyps, a severe case of heartworms, and was urinating blood due to an enlarged prostate. I was neutered right away and it was a pretty rough recovery time. Then I was treated for my heart worms. And I gained 15lbs! Now I have surgery next week at Veterinary Specialty Services (Manchester, MO) where the doctors will fix both my ears. The estimate for my surgery is $4500 (CT scan of head and chest, and a total ear canal ablation and bulla osteotomy of both ears). Then after my recovery I will have another visit and the doctors will dock my damaged tail. It has been a crazy ride! But with luck, and a lot of healing and support, I will soon be ready to find my forever home. If you could make a donation to help me on this final leg of my bumpy road to a forever home, me and my buddies at the shelter, would truly appreciate it.

UPDATE: 03/01/2023: Molly’s heart surgery today at University of Illinois to repair her PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) went GREAT!! This sweet little girl is such a fighter!! Our awesome supporters helped us raise $1,280 of the estimated $4,000 for this surgery. Please share or donate to help us raise the funds to cover the remainder of the cost. Molly is so worth it.
This is Molly, and she needs our help. Molly has been diagnosed with a heart defect called Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA). This is a birth defect that sweet little dachshund Molly has lived with her whole life, very much against all odds as this is a serious and life-threatening condition. She is just over 2 years old, and deserves a chance to live a long happy life. She will be going to the University of Illinois Small Animal Hospital next week for a pre-surgical cardiology consult, and we expect her surgery will be the following day. This heart surgery is estimated to cost around $4,000. We believe Molly is worth it, and we know our supporters do too. Please consider hitting the donate button to help us fight for Molly! 02/23/2023

What is Give STL Day?
Give STL Day brings the region together as one community, raising money and awareness for over one thousand local nonprofits in 13 St. Louis metropolitan and surrounding areas, including some Illinois counties. In addition to being a resource for donors across the St. Louis region, the initiative amplifies donations during an online giving day in May.
Since its inception in 2014, the event has raised $26 million for local nonprofits.
Give STL Day is on May 10, 2023. In celebration of the tenth annual giving day, we're adding ten extra hours of giving and more opportunities for nonprofits to win prizes. Give STL Day will end at 10 a.m. on May 11.
Who is the St. Louis Community Foundation?
At the St. Louis Community Foundation (Community Foundation), we serve our donors and community for an equitable and vibrant region. The Community Foundation inspires purposeful philanthropy that connects community and donors to build and preserve a more equitable and vibrant region, now and forever.
We are committed to our fundamental roles of helping donors create personal legacies, investing donor funds for maximum returns with minimum risk, and playing a leadership role in tackling our communities' most challenging needs.
The Foundation has more than 800 individual charitable funds that exceed $500 million in assets. On behalf of its donors, the Community Foundation makes approximately $100 million in grants annually to nonprofits that help shape our region, touch communities across the nation, and extend around the globe.
