Meet Aurora

Say hello to Aurora, a playful and social cat who's ready to light up your life! With her soft white fur and sparkling eyes, she’s as beautiful as she is sweet. Born in May 2024, Aurora is still young and full of curious energy — always ready to chase a toy, explore a new corner, or cuddle up when playtime is over. She’s also great with other cats and would love a feline friend to grow up with! While she hasn't been around dogs or children, with a proper introduction she could live in a home with cat friendly dogs and children. Whether you’re looking for your first cat or a companion for your current kitty, Aurora is the perfect mix of affectionate and fun. Aurora is already spayed, wormed, microchipped, up to date on all her vaccines including rabies and negative for FIV/FelV, so she's healthy and ready to join her forever family.

Meet Thor

My name is Thor. I am an adult Beagle/Hound mix born in April 2018. I have lived in a home with other dogs but haven't been around cats. I am a loving boy that would love a fenced in yard to sniff and explore safely. I will need a little refresher on potty training as I learn my new family's routine and will need a little work to not pull on the leash when walking. I'm ready for a forever home full of belly rubs and treats. I have been neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped, wormed, and tested negative for heartworms.

If you would like to give Aurora or Thor a loving home,
just pick up the phone and call:  217.835.2538

If no answer, leave a message with a call-back number

Hades celebrates 1st Anniversary with Zeus
Zeus looking down from his perch.
Hades relaxing after a hard days play.
Hades and Zeus sharing a snooze.

Happy to let you all know, first of all, that Hades and Zeus are both happy and healthy. They couldn't be more different, but they love each other, and we adore them both.

Hades has presented some challenges, but we've managed solutions. He has food aggression, but we just give him his own area to eat and make sure he stays away from the dogs when they're eating. It's interesting with Zeus because he's bigger and stronger than Hades, and he knows he is, but he stays away from Hades when he starts growling and hissing at food time. Meanwhile, Zeus will bully Hades when he's in the mood to wrestle, no matter how much Hades protests. We're grateful that Zeus is a good boy about not being aggressive with food. We also had some issues with Hades pooping where he shouldn't, but we solved that by adding more litter boxes around the house. Since then we haven't had issues.

Challenges aside, Hades is doing great. We recently rearranged our living room and he was able to adjust very fast. He has places that he can safely climb and a window where he loves to take naps and get some sun. He also has comfy beds and rugs all over the place when he wants to be on the ground. He's become very laid back since we got Zeus. And he's almost always in the mood for cuddles. I wish you guys could see it, but whenever we pick him up under his front legs he takes the opportunity to get a big stretch in. He stretches out his whole body and even spreads out his beans. We call that stretch "the superman" and it cracks us up every time we see it. And then we'll lay him on our chests and he just melts. He's a big lover boy now.

Zeus on the other hand is a lightning bolt. He's a big athletic boy with tons of energy, and he's ALWAYS gotta be up in your business. He's like his namesake in more ways than one. They both ended up fitting their names funnily enough. But we're doing what we can to keep him entertained. We got cat shelves that he loves to climb and take naps on. When he's not napping up there he mostly follows Hades and naps with him. When he's not being crazy, Zeus is a big lover boy too. He loves affection and we love giving it to him.

Unfortunately, we recently lost a senior Chihuahua named Star to congestive heart failure. We tried treatment (treatment has worked for her mother so far), but the meds didn't work and we had to make a tough decision. She was the youngest before we got the cats, and the biggest personality in the house. It just hasn't been the same without her, but we're so thankful to have Hades and Zeus to help us through this difficult time.

Again, thank you all for bringing these boys into our lives. We love them so much and they bring us so much joy.

I wanted to show you how beautiful Mr Blackberry looks after his first grooming appointment yesterday..  He was not very well behaved for the groomer but, they did a wonderful job with him and, I couldn't be more pleased and couldn't wait to take pictures to share with you all.

Blackberry is doing great these days, we still have our moments where we have issues but he has adjusted very well to our home and I can't imagine life without him.  He's super sweet and loving.  Him and Sassy get along so well together, they are inseparable most of the time.  He has some aggression with men and our 11 year old grandson makes him very nervous when he comes over.  He even had some aggression with my husband but we've worked on that and seems to be much better.  He's very protective of Sassy and especially with me, I seem to be his "human".  He loves going on walks and running around our yard outside.  For a long time he wouldn't go into the kitchen, laundry room or my sewing room but now he goes all over the house.

He's been with us almost three months now and his sweet, crazy personality has really come out.  We are so happy it's worked out so well, we love this silly goofball and can't imagine life without him.  Thanks again for allowing us to adopt him!!  Have a great weekend!!

I'm Stanley and I'm an adult Domestic Shorthair cat that was found as a stray in Nokomis. I was very skinny when I arrived at BAAP and they are helping nurse me back to health. I haven't been around dogs or other cats at this time but did enjoy being held by the little boy in the family that found me. I will be neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped, de-wormed, and FIV positive, FelV negative.

Oh boy!  Oh boy!  I'm going home!

Elvira is making herself right at home
Hello!

I wanted to give you an update on Elvira! She has made herself at home and is doing very well! She is not scared of our dog at all… I think the dog is more scared of her! She’s busy exploring her new home and is very playful! Thank you so much for giving us the opportunity to give this sweet girl a furever home : )

She is living her best, cozy life! When she’s not napping, she enjoys running around the house and playing with anything and everything! She is also eating her food now. We couldn’t be happier with how quickly and easily she has adjusted.

Thanks again,

Whitney

Good morning!

I haven’t updated you in a while about Randall. It’s been 9 years now. He is such a great boy!! Very spoiled and rules the roost. lol I just wanted to share these pictures with you. The first time I saw him sleeping on his back, I cried. He does not curl up in a tight ball as much anymore. Usually just when he doesn’t feel good. He is 11 years old now. He follows me everywhere now and I love it! Just wanted you all to know how he’s doing. I know we all thought he would never come out of his “special needs” little cocoon he was in. But he did!

Thank you so much for letting us adopt him!
