Adoptions
Our shelter is located at 807 Stewart Avenue, Benld IL 62009. Persons wishing to adopt a cat or dog should first call 217.835.2538 to schedule an appointment, as we do not accept "walk-ins". Our adoption hours are from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday through Monday. We are closed on Tuesdays and Christmas.
To adopt you must live within approximately 100 miles of one of our adoption sites (Benld or Springfield IL), and be at least 18 years of age. We require that you be physically present to make the final adoption arrangements. We also require that all cats be kept indoors, and that all dogs be kept in a fenced-in yard, secure pen, or indoors, unless otherwise discussed and agreed upon ahead of time. Failure to comply with any of these requirements may constitute grounds for us to take back the adopted animal.
Adoption Fees:
All pets have been spayed/neutered, are up to date with shots/vaccinations, and have been micro-chipped. If you have any questions about the animals, or want to know more about the shelter, please call us at 217.835.2538.

From time to time BAAP holds special adoptions at other locations. When such events are scheduled we will post that information below.
Should it be necessary to cancel an adoption due to potentially hazardous weather, or due to a conflict in the schedule, we will strive to post that information as soon as possible.
